Alan McLoughlin hunting me down was totally terrifying

-

OI never thought I’d be interested in a caravanning holiday

ne of my favourite stories this week is of the amateur runner who beat Sir Mo Farah in a 10km race.

Twenty-five-year-old

Ellis Cross beat Sir Mo by four seconds in the London Vitality 10K and convinced Mo it’s time to retire.

The closest I’ve come to beating an idol happened when I joined a training session with Pompey, as part of a charity auction prize.

I remember being like a rabbit in headlights at the tempo of the game and hardly got a touch. When I did, seeing Alan McLoughlin bearing down on me was frightening.

I did gain confidence and managed to Cruyff-turn one player and pass to my teammate – Andy Awford.
