Look at bigger picture

Many people will have voted yesterday to give Boris Johnson a good kicking for his appalling behaviour during lockdown and his crass denials in parliament.

But this domestic crisis of trust should not be allowed to undermine the bigger picture of Britain’s role on the global and European stage where he has shown leadership in the Ukraine war.

We, together with the US, Canada, and the Baltic and east European states have been helping Kyiv with weapons shipments, intelligence and training and a total rejection of Putin’s barbaric expansionism.

This is in contrast to Macron’s and Germany’s failed attempts to negotiate with Putin.

We are defending global democracy at this critical time and we must maintain a sense of perspective by supporting our national foreign policy.

Destabilising the government to salve our domestic sense of anger is not a wise political thing to do at this critical time.
