1984 - No surprises

The first of 14 series of Surprise Surprise began on ITV in May 1984. Hosted by singer Cilla Black, the feelgood weekend programme would surprise members of the public by granting long-held wishes, making prank calls, and reuniting guests with long-lost loved ones.
