COMPANY CSR INITIATIVE

SPONSORED BY BAE SYSTEMS WINNER: QUATTRO FOODS

-

LEADING food manufacturer Quattro Foods creates and supplies food products for high street chains, restaurants, food service providers, the NHS, the United Nations, schools, colleges and universities.

During the pandemic, Quattro took the initiative to do its bit for those in need and partnered with Portsmouth charities

The Hive, Friday Fridge and others in the area to help feed the most vulnerable in the community.

The team’s dedication to doing good and helping the local community made them worthy winners of the CSR Initiative of the Year award.

Sam Brower, managing director, was emotional about the win.

She said: ‘It’s completely unexpected. For us it’s not about the impact on the business, but the fact that we know we’ve done so much for the local community.

‘Just to be recognised for what we’vee done means a lot, and to be part of the community is just amazing.

‘I think until Covid hit, we didn’t know what a community was. So just involving ourselves in that was just so special, it kept us going and we met so many incredible people.’

THE family-run Coastal Kitchen Group consists of eateries Abarbistro, The Tenth Hole, The Canteen and The Briny, some of the most well-respected establishments in the city.

The business runs as a family - it puts its staff and their wellbeing at the front and centre of everything they do. Working in a sector which has been particularly hard-hit by the pandemic and where staff can be transient, they have a genuine commitment to make everyone feel part of the business.

Additionally, the company has taken part in community initiatives, including donating to food banks.

Owner of the Tenth Hole and The Canteen Lucy Branson said: ‘Amazing, unexpected.

The competition was amazing, we’re just a family-run company that respects our employees so we’re thrilled.

‘The hospitality industry has been through a really hard time because of the pandemic, we just feel like we’ve done everything we can to try and support our staff through it.’

In this category the judges were so impressed that they also decided to award a highly commended, which went to The Glow Studio.
