Sign language singers’ charity cash

-

A FAREHAM group raised more than £160 for charity by performing songs using sign language.

On Saturday the signed singing group Sign4Fun performed to well known songs using British Sign Language (BSL) in the Fareham precinct.

They did so as part of Deaf

Awareness Week and to mark the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity.

A spokeswoman for the group said: ‘Sign4Fun are grateful for the support and would like to thank all the shoppers who donated, Fareham Shopping Centre who gave permission for the collection and the volunteers from Hearing Dogs.’

The event was supported by three dogs in training from the Hearing Dogs charity and the total amount raised during the two hours was £164.39. Profits will be split between The National Deaf Children’s Society and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
