Police pay plea to MPs

-

POLICE are calling on MPs to support struggling officers by improving their pay.

Fareham MP Suella Braverman and Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage have been urged to back a campaign by Hampshire Police Federation for more money.

It comes as a huge 91 per cent of Hampshire officers said they do not currently feel respected by the government with 40 per cent worrying about their finances every day.

The figures from the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) 2021 Pay and Morale Survey come after 12 years of pay caps and pay freezes for the police.

The figures revealed that 69 per cent of respondents felt they were worse off financially than they were five years ago and 12 per cent reported never or almost never having enough money to cover essentials.
