I have been reading the recent letters concerning Zoe Ball, and I'm left wondering what all this hatred is about.

Mr Fenlon writes: ‘This vacuous, narcissist­ic non-entity babbles through each of her programmes, with a studio full of oily sycophants shrieking and whooping at her every comment.’

Personally speaking, Mr McPhail and Mr Fenlon, I find Zoe's Radio 2 show each morning enlighteni­ng and joyous to listen to, such an uplift to her predesseso­r Chris Evans who left the show some three years ago.

You do of course have an option Mr Fenlon should you not be pleased with the show, turn to another programme or turn off,

Its really not that difficult.

If approved, the applicatio­n for licensed activities beyond 11pm opens the way for the medium-sized premises to become part of the nighttime economy which is quite different to day-time and evening catering and, in my view, inappropri­ate at a busy road junction half-way between Albert Road and the Palmerston and Osborne Road night-time destinatio­ns, some distance, from bus stops and taxi ranks.
