Mayor set to start party

-

THE mayor of Gosport is set to open a Platinum Jubilee street party to commemorate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Cllr Mark Hook will be joined by the town crier and Pearly King and Queen at the event on Saturday, June 4.

The street party will kick off on Selsey Avenue, Gosport, at 1pm over the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend, with plenty of fun promised for all the family.

The road will be closed from 11am on the day to allow the street to prepare for the celebrations.

There will also be a children’s hat or crown competition on the day, with sweet treat prizes.

There will be many street parties taking place over the bank holiday, with more than 200 taking place in Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport between June 2 and 5. To find out more, visit portsmouth.gov.uk/jubilee70.
