MP pays visit to coral reef conservation centre
THE MP for Meon Valley has visited a company which is leading coral conservation research.
Flick Drummond received a tour of The Coral Centre, in Fontley Road, Titchfield, Fareham, on April 29.
Shemetmanagingdirector RobPeck,andobservedhowinvolved he has been in sustainability research.
Mrs Drummond discussed howshewouldworkalongside The Coral Centre to support legislationchangesaroundmarine life and biodiversity
When asked about her visit to Coral HQ, she said: ‘I was thrilled to visit this company and to see how they are making a difference to our planet’s oceans through growing coral sowedonotimportit,through helpingacademicresearchand through practical solutions.
‘Private enterprise like The Coral Centre has a huge role to playintacklingclimatechange andrestoringourenvironment in tandem with research bodies,governmentsandotherorganisations.’
AspartoftheCoralPodproject, the politician was shown an impressive 900mm cube tank.
Theaquariumhousesliving coral fragments and fish from tropical waters, and studies are being conducted to see if the manmade ecosystem can be replicated in coral reefs worldwide.
