Gratitude?

-

What a very strange letter from B Nevill (The News,1 February), wherein he seems to be saying that because Britain played a small-but important part in the alliance of countries that defeated Nazi Germany nobody currently living here has the right to criticise any aspect of life in this sceptred isle? Furthermore,he says that those who dare to reflect upon what this country has done or is doing 'need to show some gratitude'. Mr Nevill, I must point out to you that amongst the 'free nations' that defeated Hitler was the Soviet Union, whose Red Army defeated 90 per cent of Germany's Wehrmacht. Is he suggesting that citizens of the now Russian Federation should be eternally grateful to the murderous Stalin and not criticise what goes on in his erstwhile domain?
