Athletes bathed in sunshine –
The sun was shining when the first day of the Hampshire Athletics Championships was held at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.
But as these Paul Smith pictures on the opposite page illustrate, it was a very different tale on the second day!
Overall, the annual Championships were a big success story for City of Portsmouth AC with 61 medals in total.
Charlotte Pabari and Logan Cookson both scooped two golds. Pabari, competing in the under-13 girls category, won the javelin (41.58m) and shot (10.23m) events. And Cookson, competing in the under-15 boys section, triumphed in the triple jump (10.34m) and long jump (5.09m). In the second of those events, he finished 17cm ahead of Josh Taylor (Havant).
