Fareham Musical Society venture far from home

-

Having been established in Fareham since 1983, the multiaward winning Fareham Musical Society are taking a big leap out from their home turf for their 40th anniversary season and are performing their first show at Hayling Island’s Station Theatre.

They are presenting the hit musical Me and My Girl from Wednesday, April 19 to Saturday 22.

Featuring a full cast (with the two leads pictured above taking a well-earned break from rehearsals to pose for the camera), the show is packed with such memorable and loved songs as The Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and Leaning on a Lampost.

With comedy and drama and romance all thrown in for good measure, the show ran in the West End and on Broadway for almost 15 years, and this new production promises to carry on its traditional appeal as a spectacular slice of pure escapism.

Bill Snibson (played by Sean Ridley), a Lambeth costermonger, is revealed to be the new Earl of Hareford and his newlydiscovered aristocratic relations are horrified.

Bringing him to Hareford Hall, they attempt to educate Bill into the ways of the gentry and to separate him from his cockney girlfriend Sally (Hannah Edwins).

The result? Chaos of the most comical kind!

Fareham Musical Society are one of the busiest theatre groups in the area, presenting up to nine shows a year – with not just musicals, but also plays and Youth Theatre shows – and they are hoping this will be the start of a long and happy relationship with Hayling Island.

Tickets £16. Go to stationtheatre.co.uk.
