Two more Covid deaths in area reported in past week
There were two more coronavirus deaths recorded over the latest weekly period in Portsmouth.
The latest figures from the UK coronavirus dashboard show a total of 619 people had died in the area by April 6.
There were three more deaths recorded in Havant (overall total now 511), one more in Gosport (290) and one more in Fareham (440). All those were among 27,828 deaths recorded across the South East since records were first kept just over three years ago.
The weekly figures include anyone whose death certificate –registered up to 14 days before April 20 – mentions Covid-19 as one of the causes. A total of 189,407 deaths were recorded throughout England by April 6.
*Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 160 patients with coronavirus in hospital as of Wednesday, figures show.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in QA Hospital with C ovid -19 by 8 am on April 19 was up by just one on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 16% in the past four weeks –28 days ago, there were 191.
Across England there were 5,590 people in hospital with Covid as of April 19, with 118 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.
Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid-19 has decreased by 33% in the past four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 31%.
The figures also show that 75 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust in the week to April 17. This was up from 64 in the previous seven days.
