Exciting young attacking talent Pompey could make a move for
Emerging performers at Premier League or Championship clubs who may look to join a League One side on loan – or in some cases even on a permanent deal – during the 2023/24 season
John Mousinho is looking to overhaul his Pompey squad this summer with a number of new signings expected.
The Blues will look to target a number of different markets to freshen up their options.
Those in top-flight academies could prove an avenue to explore, both as permanent additions and on loan.
While sporting director Rich Hughes will look to continue his policy of repairing ‘broken toys’ cast aside by the big boys, Pompey could potentially look to loan in talent excelling at PL2 level – and above.
With a focus on attacking additions, we’ve highlighted some rising stars who could prove useful recruits.
Carlos Borges – Manchester City
City’s emerging sensation is channelling Erling Haaland, with the 19-yearold bagging 20 goals from 22 appearances this term.
Luke Harris – Fulham
The attacking midfielder has been tied down at Fulham until 2016. The Welsh ace has gained a Premier League breakthrough off the bench this term, in addition to 12 goals in PL2.
Jack Hinshelwood – Brighton
The England under-18 international midfielder is related to former Pompey coach Martin Hinshelwood, with ex-Blues defender Danny his uncle.

Harry Leonard – Blackburn
Ten goals in PL2 for the 19-year-old striker, who Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson believes has first-team ‘potential’ at Ewood Park.
Adedire Mebude – Manchester City
A lot of noise around the London-born Scot, who moved to City’s academy from Rangers with 11 goals following this term.
Joe Hugill – Manchester United
Ten goals for the 19-yearold forward for United in PL2 this term.

The scouts are flocking to watch the West Ham striker, who has bagged 13 PL2 goals this season – as well as a hattrick against Southampton in the FA Youth Cup semifinal.
Mubama has made a late Premier League substitute debut and scored in Europe for the Hammers.
David Omilabu – Crystal Palace
The 20-year-old attacking talent can play across the front line, but has mostly operated off the right.
Omilabu has bagged a sensational 46 goals in 23 games at under-16 level and 20 in the under-18 age group.
Cameron Peupion – Brighton
The Aussie arrived at Brighton in 2020 and is now creating noise, with his expected assist figures ranking highly.
