Care group to sponsor girls’ football team
Cornerstone Healthcare Group, a leading complex care provider in the UK, has given a financial helping hand to a local girls’ football team.
They are the new sponsors of Clanfield’s under-10 girls’ team.
The partnership comes at a time when women’s and girls’ football has never been more popular in this country, following the triumph of England’s Lionesses in winning the European Championships last year.
Cornerstone Healthcare – whose head office and 99bed care home, South Africa Lodge, are both based in Waterlooville – recognises the importance of supporting young women in sport and encouraging them to pursue their passion for football.
The sponsorship of the girls’ team came about after a staff member asked if the company would be interested in helping out the youngsters.
It was an opportunity that the company’s CEO, Johann Van Zyl, jumped at, saying: ‘It’s great to be able to support local grassroots football and the girls in their quest to become future Lionesses!’
Clanfield under-10 girls’ team coach Brad Mackfall said: ‘We are grateful for Cornerstone’s support. Their sponsorship will help us to provide our players with better kit, which will ultimately help to improve their performance on the field.’
With the women’s World Cup being held this summer, Cornerstone hopes its sponsorship will inspire more young women to pursue their dreams of becoming professional athletes.
In Hampshire, the county FA’s own girls’ league has numerous teams from under-8s all the way through to under18s.
