Had Trump been in power ... Trump claims he could end the conflict in Ukraine in 24 hours

-

Donald Trump has claimed on a number of occasions that had he been in power, Russia would never have invaded Ukraine.

Now they have invaded, he states he could end the conflict within 24 hours.

What would this Trump intervention look like?

Firstly, he would require Ukraine to cede Crimea and the Dombas in perpetuity.

They will become de facto parts of the Russian Federation. His message? Ukraine needs to accept 'real politik'.

He would request Russia hold off further assaults on Kiev, without getting more specific.

He would insist on all Western support being withdrawn and insist a new puppet regime in Kiev to state Ukraine will never be part of NATO or the EU.

Putin will agree almost immediately of course.

He has, after all, been given the time he needs to regain strength. A better organised assault can wait awhile.

Some European nations will hail Trump's intervention. They will claim we have 'Peace in Our Time'.

By this of course they mean appeasement. The myth spread by Trump and his supporters is that no US backed wars were started during his presidency.

This ignores the fact that he kow-towed to aggressors.

Yes, it bought Trump, pictured, and the US some time but a grisly reckoning will happen sooner or later...but not much later. There is nothing exceptional or new about Trump, who comes from a long line of power worshippers. Those with overwhelming power will ALWAYS be in power. He lacks the capacity to imagine social or political change.

Trump acts in his own narrow interests, how to keep himself safe mainly. He counts on the fact that his 'celebrity' will afford him preferential treatment no matter how bad things get. His slogan 'Make America Great Again' was always a lie. He meant and still means: 'Make Trump Untouchable'.
