Six Pompey legends feature on new mural unveiled this week. It is located in Anson Road on the side wall of the club shop and ticket office

Supporters’ Trust set up a poll asking the PO4 faithful who they would like to see featured on a mural at the Blues’ famous ground as part of the Trust’s celebratio­ns of the club’s 125 anniversar­y.

Alan Knight Age: 62

Position:

Goalkeeper

Years at Pompey: 1978-2000

Appearance­s: 683

Pompey Legend

Knight holds the record for the most appearance­s for a single club by a goalkeeper and is currently the club’s official ambassador.

Trust chairman Donald Vass said: “The supporters have chosen some superb Pompey icons here. What a six-a-side team this would make!

Between them, they’ve delivered cup wins, achieved promotions, scored iconic goals and broken records while playing for Pompey.

Some have dedicated their life to the club, others dazzled for one special season, but each of them have given Pompey fans incredible memories, which we hope this street art mural will rekindle.”

Robert Prosinecki

Age: 55

Position: Midfielder

Years at Pompey: 2001-02

Appearance­s: 33

Goals: 9

Prosinecki’s heroic performanc­es were instrument­al in

Pompey avoiding relegation in his sole season with the Blues – including a hat-trick against Barnsley in a 4-4 home draw.

The street art is the creation of MurWalls, who have previously made amazing artwork for

Manchester

City, Liverpool and Everton.

Guy Whittingha­m

Age: 59

Position: Striker

Years at Pompey as a player:1989-93, 1999-01

Appearance­s: 195

Goals: 99

As a manager: 2011-13

A former soldier, he was known as ‘Corporal

Punishment’ at Pompey, and remains the holder of the club record for league goals scored in a single season – 42 goals in 199293.

Nwankwo Kanu

Age: 47

Position: Forward

Years at Pompey: 2006– 2012

Appearance­s: 143

Goals: 20

Assured his place in the

Pompey pantheon by scoring the sole goals in the Blues’ victory over

West Bromwich Albion in the 2008 FA Cup semifinal, and then the winner against Cardiff in the FA

Cup final.

Paul Merson Age: 56

Position: Midfielder

Years at Pompey: 2002–2003

Appearance­s: 45

Goals: 12

Signed on a two-year deal, but only played for one. However, in that season he played a key role as captain in securing Pompey’s promotion back into the top flight after a 15 year absence.

Linvoy Primus Age: 50

Position: Defender

Years at Pompey: 2000–2009

Goals: 5

Following his retirement, Fratton Park’s Milton Stand was renamed the Linvoy Primus Community Stand in 2010 in honour of the popular player.
