Marlon has ‘got that changing room going’

He added: ‘There’s no doubt he’s been superb this year, coming back from the injury he had last season when he had surgery and missed quite a large chunk of the season.

‘He came back, got himself going in the last four and then has been just superb week in, week out for us.

‘As a leader he’s right up there in terms of characters I’ve played with and coached over the years. When I say right up there, I mean at the top in terms of how he galvanises dressing rooms and runs the dressing room.

‘I never have get involved in anything there, because Marlon and a few of the other boys marshal it so well.

‘He’s got that changing room going. Everyone who’s spoken about that group is bang on, they’re a very close-knit group and they enjoy themselves while working incredibly hard.

‘A lot of that is down to Marlon and the senior leadership.’

Pack made the first of his

564 league appearance­s in September 2009 while on loan from Pompey to Wycombe. Mousinho was in the Chairboys’ starting XI against Brighton at the Withdean Stadium when Pack came on as a second half sub.

Last weekend’s outing against Wigan was the 640th of Pack’s profession­al career, which also includes spells at Dagenham (loan), Cheltenham, Bristol City and Cardiff.

Pack has made 71 league appearance­s for his hometown club – the first as a sub against Cardiff in August 2010 and the other 70 since returning in the summer of 2022.

He has now won the League One title twice, having been a champion in 2014/15 with Bristol City.
