IRISH SEA WINDFARM IS WORLD’S LARGEST
The 87 turbines at the Walney Extension, located 12 miles off the Cumbrian coast, have begun generating electricity. The Danish firm, Ørsted carried out the work on the offshore windfarm, which is now the largest in the world. It covers an area roughly equal to 20,000 football pitches, and can power 600,000 homes.
