Next generation furling spinnaker

-

OneSails has developed furling asymmetric spinnakers and a cruising asymmetric sail that don’t need an anti-torsion cable at the luff of the sail.

Instead, continuous high-modulus structural fibres are spread in a lens shape in the luff area. This allows for a portion of the sail to extend forward of the luff, so downwind true wind angles of up to 155° can be sailed without the need for a complex arrangement of lines connecting the luff of the sail to a an anti-torsion cable.

A further benefit is that less halyard tension is needed than for more conventional furling asymmetric sails. Costs of a sail incorporating the Integrated Furling System are expected to be slightly lower than a similar sail fitted with an anti-torsion cable. n onesails.co.uk
