DUNBAR HAS YOUNGEST RNLI CREWMEMBER
Kieran Fairbairn, 17, has become Scotland’s youngest RNLI volunteer after joining the Dunbar Lifeboat.
The teenager has begun training on both the allweather and inshore vessels, and has been given special dispensation from his school should he be needed for a shout during term time.
Kieran follows in the footsteps of his father, Gary, who is the station’s coxswain, his grandfather and his great-great-great grandfather.
“Lifeboats have been in my family since forever,” said Kieran. “It feels fantastic to have the pager and be part of the crew myself.”
