Rare dolphin sightings
At the beginning of October I was sailing My GK 24 Golden Kie about one mile due south of Shoreham Harbour. Around 1300 I spotted a pod of six to eight dolphins straight ahead. I immediately tacked to starboard to follow them.
They played around my boat for about 10 minutes and then disappeared. I was sailing solo as I normally do and only had my mobile phone camera on board. To say it was an amazing experience was an understatement. I have been told that this is the first sighting in this area of the English Channel for 20 years. David Edgar
No, not the Caribbean, but just out of the mouth of the Tyne off South Shields. Pottering up and down the North East coast in my Jaguar 25 in early August three dolphins joined me for 20 minutes. I guess only the grey overcast sky gave any clue that the location was not an exotic clime. A tick on my bucket list. Michael Stanley Newcastle upon Tyne
