Better boathook and cutter
I was disappointed with the cutting ability of the serrated knife and have now invested in a pole pruning saw (£42.99, wolf-garten-tools.co.uk), which cuts on the pull stroke. These are very sharp, aggressive saws and the telescopic handle is somewhat longer than a boathook, improving access to the prop. The Wolf range also have a strong branch hook (£11.95), much stronger than the modified boat hook – though I’d prefer not to have to use them!
