Should we use crimp joints? I do. But ev­ery time I use one I have doubts about the con­nec­tion’s life ex­pectancy be­cause a crimp doesn’t seal ca­ble cores.

Are chocolate blocks ac­cept­able? I do use them and other types of screw ter­mi­nal but not on any­thing crit­i­cal, and not ever on any­thing that is sub­ject to es­pe­cially wet or hu­mid con­di­tions – again be­cause it doesn’t pre­vent the at­mos­phere en­ter­ing the ca­ble core through open ends.
