Boaters are being encouraged to join a new worldwide ocean clean-up campaign.

The coastalcleanup.net website allows sailors to find out about events near them, as well as log the location and type of rubbish they have collected themselves.

The project, which has been set up by cruiser Steve Brown, already has the backing of the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) and the Cruising Club of America.

“As a long-term cruising sailor, I have seen what can be done by sailors who act together to clean up beaches around their anchorage and so I have created a campaign to encourage ALL cruising sailors to carry out this clean up on an ongoing basis,” explained Brown.

Anyone who is interested should contact Steve at ad[email protected]cleanup.net
