NEW SHETLAND MARINA PLANNED
Plans to build a new 34-berth community-run marina in Cullivoe, Yell, have been submitted to the Shetland Islands Council
North Yell Development Council (NYDC) wants to relocate the current marina to the south side of the Cullivoe Pier. The proposal includes a 210m breakwater and eight 10m long pontoons for vessels. A toilet and shower block will also be built.
NYDC said there was a need for larger and deeper berths for local boats and more facilities to attract visiting yachts. The current marina only has 14 berths.
The plans are being supported by the RYA and the Shetland Fishermen’s Association.
