Marlow Blue Ocean Dockline

-

The marine industry consumes a huge amount of plastics just in making rope, but British company Marlow has started to address the problem. All the raw material for this product comes from recycled plastic bottles – around 16 million are discarded every day in the UK.

“When we found out about the astonishing quantities of plastic bottle waste, we knew we had to act, and sought partners who had the expertise to develop and produce rPET (recycled polyester) yarn,” says managing director Jon Mitchell. “This, combined with our knowledge of engineering plastic polymers, allowed this innovation to become possible.”

Blue Ocean Dockline is available in 12, 14 and 16mm sizes and in lengths from 9-15m. As with other polyester mooring lines it has good abrasion resistance, shock absorption and a soft and supple feel. Price from around £3.40 per metre. n marlowropes.com
