WHALE AND DOLPHIN VOLUNTEER RECORD
A record number of volunteers took part in research expeditions with the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust in 2019, helping to launch a new year-round programme of monitoring marine mammals and basking sharks. The charity carried out marine surveys from its 52ft specialised research ketch Silurian. In 2019 Silurian covered over 5,000 miles sailing as far north as Cape Wrath, south to Islay and Jura, and west to the Flannan Isles.
