Solar, series or parallel?
Nigel Hinton (Letters December 2019) advises that solar panels should always be in parallel, never in series.
We were advised that in low light conditions and particularly if a panel is not spotlessly clean, and also as panels age, a single panel may not produce enough voltage to produce any charge.
So we have compromised with our eight panels, four pairs, each pair in series, and then the pairs are paralleled. This has worked well.
