£20million for ‘Clean Maritime’

-

Hydrogen-powered vessels and e-charge points at ports could become a common sight on our seas and in our coastal towns, thanks to a £20million competition to make innovative green maritime ideas a reality.

Grants from £25,000 to £1million will be awarded to support trials of prototype vessels and port infrastructure. It comes as the UK prepares to host the COP26 climate change summit in November.

Maritime Minister Robert Courts said: “This is a turning point for the UK’s maritime sector.”

All ports and harbours are in scope, including infrastructure for both freight and leisure.
