VISITOR BERTHS DOUBLE
Stornoway Port is doubling its yacht berths following £11m investment in Newton Basin/ Goat Island development.
A new 83-berth Newton Marina for locals will free up space in the Inner Harbour to accommodate more visiting yachts than ever. The existing 85-berth Inner Harbour, on Cromwell St Quay, will remain the primary marina for visitors, due to its facilities and central location close to shops and services. Visiting yachts to the region can now also enjoy the new Castlebay marina in Barra, Lochboisdale marina in South Uist, Lochmaddy marina in North Uist, plus Tarbert/Scalpay pontoons in Harris – reducing the sailing distances between marinas in the Hebrides.
