7 Loch Ken Holiday Park
Ideally located and on the shore of the beautiful Loch Ken, this is a great site for anyone wanting to explore Galloway Forest Park, but is still less than 30 minutes from the coastal town of Kirkcudbright.
With just 21 pitches, it is a haven where you can expect peace and quiet, within a beautiful area that is teeming with wildlife. The surrounding area is ideal for bird watching, with an RSPB bird reserve, Galloway Forest Park and the Galloway Kite Trail. There’s also access to a fishing stock farm famous for its pike, roach and perch. The park offers boat, canoe, pedalo and bike hire and there is plenty here to entertain both young and old, with a high-season kids’ club, a football pitch, a sand pit, two playgrounds and an aromatic herb garden.
In terms of facilities, the park is well-kept, with power showers in the toilet and shower blocks, family and disabled shower rooms, dishwashing areas, chemical waste disposal, a small shop in the reception, a laundry room, tourist information and even a coffee bar during high season. There’s also free Wi-fi throughout, should you want to keep in touch with the rest of the world.
The park is pet-friendly, and there are lots of opportunities for off-lead dog walks nearby. One of the best things about this site, though, is the picturesque setting.
