2015 Bailey Unicorn III Seville
IF YOU’RE AFTER a two-berth end-washroom tourer that’s only a few years old, what’s on the market? To find out, we visited Stewart Longton Caravans at their main Chorley branch, in Lancashire. With a budget of about £17,500 we had a good choice of models to view. Our quest came up with two great examples, from Bailey and Sterling. Both were in ‘like new’ condition and well equipped, so putting them head to head, which one would be the winner for us? The Sterling Continental 480, priced at £17,595, is super-stylish and comes with Swift’s SMART construction system. The Bailey Unicorn III Seville, priced at £15,995, also has a proprietary construction method, called Alu-tech, which like Swift’s SMART, eliminates wood from the frame. With spec including Alde heating and solar panels, these two tourers really pack a punch for a couple wanting an upmarket two-berth, without splashing out for a new one.
The contenders 2015 Bailey Unicorn III Seville
With the then-new Seville, Bailey had a surefire winner on its hands. Boasting excellent spec, such as a solar panel and an alarm, plus Alde heating, they offered value for money in the caravanning stakes. The Seville also had a sunroof, with Bailey opting for a vertical style. The profile wasn’t the most exciting, but these Al-ko chassisbased tourers still held appeal. The layout of the Seville was the standard end-washroom format – two settees at the front, with an offside kitchen. Opposite, there’s a large side dresser, and a good-sized end washroom. With all its spec, the Seville’s MTPLM is a sensible 1369kg, too. The model we looked at was in good overall condition, with no damage to be found, although the external moulding trim did look a bit ill-fitting.
