Practical Caravan

and finally A quick round-up

-

Over the past few years, we’ve covered more or less the entire country in our County Counsel round-up – from the north of Scotland to the south of England, and everywhere in between. In case you’ve missed any of our series, here’s a round-up of the many regions we’ve reviewed during the past 12 months!

1 Lancashire, November 2018

Blackpool’s bright lights can be visited from the likes of Manor House Caravan Park and Highbank Farm Caravan & Campsite. Explore Morecambe Bay and the Forest of Bowland from Brickhouse Caravan Park or Dale Hey Touring Park, or see the south of the county from Burrs Country Park C&MC Site.

2 Somerset, October 2018

We revealed where to stay and what to do here. There’s a host of natural wonders, from Cheddar Gorge and Caves to the tranquillity and hidden histories of Avalon Marshes. Campsites include awardwinner Bath Chew Valley, an adults-only site, and familyfriendly parks like Warren Farm and Northam Farm.

3 AONBS, September 2018

This month we rounded up some of the UK’S Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With 46 across the UK, we whittled it down to include the Wye Valley, Antrim Coast and Glens, Lleyn Peninsula, Quantock Hills, Howardian Hills, Forest of Bowland, Suffolk Coast & Heaths, Northumberland Coast, Cornwall and Cannock Chase.

4 Cornwall, Summer Special 2018

We revisited this county and found top sites, including our Top 100 Regional Winner, Tehidy Holiday Park, and favourites such as Pentewan Sands Holiday Park and Silver Sands Holiday Park.

5 Aberdeenshire, August 2018

Centuries of history here range from castles to Stone and Bronze Age relics. There’s also stunning scenery and nature at its finest. Stay at the likes of Portsoy Links Caravan Park and Greenwood Loch Holiday Park for water-side pitches, or head inland to Ballater Caravan Park, Aden Caravan & Camping or Deeside Holiday Park.

6 Herefordshire, July 2018

This landlocked county has plenty to see, with influences from Wales adding to its rich history. It’s a haven for walkers and foodies, well catered for at sites such as Arrow Bank Holiday Park, Townsend Touring and Camping Park, or Home Farm Caravan & Campsite.

7 North Yorkshire, June 2018

The moors aren’t all that there is to see here – this county packed with places of interest. From small, peaceful sites such as Meadow Falls, on the border with Lancashire, to sites such as Ladycross Plantation and Crow’s Nest Caravan Park on the east coast, we looked at places to stay across the whole county.

8 Cambridgeshire, May 2018

There’s more to Cambridgeshire than the hallowed stone buildings of the university: from fascinating places such as the Imperial War Museum Duxford to vibrant market towns and scenic views from the Nene Valley Railway. Sites include Highfield Farm Park, Fields End Water and Wyton Lakes.

9 Carmarthenshire, April 2018

There are plenty of great sites here, as well as glorious landscapes and gardens, tantalising legends and cultural gems. The small sites we found all offered peace and tranquility in fine locations.

10 Gloucestershire, March 2018

Enclosing much of the Wye Valley AONB and forming part of the Cotswolds AONB, Gloucestershire has some lovely landscapes, with a rich history. We found some great sites, too, such as Whitemead Forest Park and Cotswold Farm Park.

11 Dumfries & Galloway, January 2018

Nature rules here, and we found lots of opportunities for getting outdoors, including cycling through Galloway Forest, discovering sculpture in the Southern Uplands, and hiking the hills of Kirkdale to see Cairn Holy.

12 Essex, December 2017

Among the vibrant towns and along its 350 miles of coastline, there is plenty of heritage to be explored here. Many of the county’s major sites are buzzing holiday parks, but there are also peaceful CLS, CSS and smaller sites waiting to be discovered.
