WHY IS TRAVELLING SOLO MORE COSTLY?
In various publications, including yours, I have seen mention made of the costs associated with taking a dog on holiday, and the value versus costs (dogs, for example, do not use the showers, toilets, extra electricity and so on). However, I have never seen anything about costs relating to solo caravanners. I travel solo with one dog, and apart from the two clubs (which I favour because of their pricing), I feel penalised on private campsites. Some private sites charge the pitch fee (plus awning, but that is another matter!) for two adults. If there is a third adult, an extra charge can be made. There is, however, never a reduction for just one adult. I use the showers 50% less and the toilets 50% less, but there
never seems to be consideration given to this in setting prices. It is definitely prohibiting my choosing an independent site – so come on, guys, it’s time to give something back to us single travellers! C Ward
