What can I tow with a B licence?

If you passed your test on or after 1 January 1997 and haven’t taken a towing test since, you have a B licence. This limits the holder to car and caravan combinations with a combined Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) of no more than 3500kg. The Touareg has a Gross Vehicle Weight/mam of 2850kg, so there’s just 650kg left for the van. Anyone with a B licence will need to upgrade to a B+E licence.
