Two fabulous four-berths from 2017

Over in Cheshire, Leisure Sales had some tempting layouts and tourers to suit all tastes. We were looking for something nearly new, at a big saving – in other words, we wanted to have our cake and eat it, too! With new models from Swift, Bailey, Lunar, LS dealer specials and Venus, Leisure Sales has a good flow of pre-owned tourers on its forecourt. It has an indoor showroom, large accessory shop and a super café, so the firm offers plenty to customers. A lovely 2017 Lunar Delta Ti, with fixed transverse bed and spacious end washroom, took our fancy. We then found a stylish Swift Challenger 645, also from 2017, with good spec and a transverse-bed layout, but at a lower price – the Challenger was £1500 cheaper. The Delta is the more upmarket of the two, however. So would their condition be enough to differentiate our contenders? We’ll see, but at first glance, both looked as though they were brand new.

The contenders 2017 Lunar Delta Ti

The Delta Ti has proved a big seller for Lunar, and that’s no surprise; it looks good from the outside, with its smart black alloys, and offers bags of space inside. The front ABS panel has a sunroof and a large gas locker, while at the rear, there is a full-height ABS moulded panel, as you would expect on a tourer of this calibre. The smooth aluminium side panels have bold graphics – all part of the Delta’s DNA. A great spec includes Alde heating, an alarm, a chrome radiator in the washroom, a microwave, top-notch LED lighting, on-board water tank, fridge/freezer, dual-fuel hob and skyview roof vent. The layout offers a large lounge, central kitchen opposite the nearside dresser, and a separate fridge/freezer. The transverse double bed has twin wardrobes, and the end washroom completes this popular floorplan.

2017 Swift Challenger 645

The Challenger has a very stylish look, with a more fluid profile. It comes with a front moulded panel plus sunroof. At the rear, Thule bike rack fixing mounts are fitted as standard, while the sides are GRP finish. A large front locker is part of the Challenger’s appeal, while the great spec is another plus. This includes a fridge and separate freezer, microwave, dual-fuel hob, alarm, solar panel, Alde heating and a Cd/radio. The layout is very similar to the Delta’s. Although the Challenger is slightly shorter than the Delta, it also provides a large front lounge. The kitchen is on the offside, with the dresser, fridge/freezer and adjoining wardrobe opposite. The double bed has another wardrobe on the opposite side and, of course, you get that full-width end washroom. So basically, this is pretty much identical to the Delta, making our choice a tough one.

?? ?? CLOCKWISE FROM ABOVE Delta’s lounge has comfortable seating and central chest of drawers. This smart tourer looks just like new. Microwave above fridge/freezer is not as neatly fitted as the Challenger’s. Kitchen work surface is very generous
