Buying tips for 2014 Lunar Clubman CK

LUNAR’S CLUBMAN MARKS its 44th birthday this year, having been launched for the 1975 season. This long-running range has become something of an icon in its market sector, providing high quality with light weight. The Clubman offers lots of kit, and in the pre-owned market these tourers make a great buy. We decided to look at the 2014 line-up, a model year in which Lunar used its then-new Core wallboard. This provided great weight savings, averaging 55kg. We found a ‘just arrived on the forecourt’ Clubman CK that had been traded in at North Western Caravans in Cheshire. The CK was clean and in good condition, and would be a tempting buy for couples. The 2014 line-up came with great spec, including Alde heating, Cd/radio, dual-fuel hob and full oven, superb LED lighting, ATC and alarm. There were five layouts, including fixed-bed options, two layouts for couples and the transverse-bed Si model. Model history The Clubman CK that we looked at was in really excellent condition, but few of these models seem to suffer much – their owners tend to look after them. The CK is one of Clubman’s best-sellers and it’s easy to see why, because it provides loads of living space and an end washroom with a great shower cubicle. Over the years, the CK has become a firm favourite for customers who are looking for a high spec, but want to avoid any weight penalty in a two-berth tourer. The Clubman CK’S Al-ko chassis comes complete with ATC, AKS hitch and heavy-duty corner steadies. The front lounge offers twin settees with single beds, which will easily make up into a large double. The CK boasts a large side dresser and kitchen opposite, plus the aforementioned end washroom, which is generous in size and has a chrome radiator. New upholstery was added for 2014, as were chrome handles for the overhead lockers, and a Phantom tracker unit.
