The city of Lincoln is incredible at any time of the year, but the Christmas market in December is well worth visiting. We love the Camper UK Leisure Park in Swinethorpe, which is about a 20-minute drive away. Sam Johnson (Facebook) Site essentials Camper UK Leisure Park is an idyllic piece of Lincolnshire countryside, with picturesque fishing lakes and good local walks. It’s also a great location for cyclists, as the Cycle Route 64 – which leads right into Lincoln – is nearby. This intimate park makes the most of its surroundings, and has 12 fully serviced hardstanding pitches as well as 12 grass ones. The modern toilet and shower block has underfloor heating and a well-equipped utility room with dishwashing sinks, laundry machines, a clothes airer and a fridge. Half a mile away is the village of Harby, where you’ll find the Bottle & Glass pub and brew store. This is a charming country pub with a microbrewery and store selling craft ale, wine, gifts and groceries. Address Church Road, Swinethorpe, Lincolnshire NG23 7EE

Pitch+2+hook-up £18 I can highly recommend Corner Farm Caravan and Motorhome Club Site in Addlethorpe, near Skegness. There’s an on-site garden centre and showers and toilets, but the best part is the café that does fab food and a great roast that you can take back to the van. Another lovely CL is West View in South Cockerington near Louth; there are showers and toilets on site, and pitching is in a lovely garden area. Bliss. Colin (Forum) Site essentials Caravan and Motorhome Club members looking for a quieter, more intimate site will like Corner Farm Certificated Location. This site takes just five caravans and motorhomes, so you won’t feel crowded, and there’s a tearoom where you can enjoy a bite to eat just moments from the comfort of your van. Facilities are modest, but there are electric hook-up and water taps on each of the pitches, refuse and recycling facilities, an information room and a toilet and shower block. The site is about a mile inland, so is great for anyone wanting to spend time on the coast. It’s also a great, quiet alternative to the large holiday parks of Skegness and Ingoldmells, yet is only a few minutes’ drive away for anyone wanting to enjoy the family attractions of the two towns. Barely a 10-minute drive up the road is the historic Gunby Estate, with its 18th-century hall and Victorian walled gardens; a great place to visit. Site essentials In the picturesque hamlet of South Cockerington, West View Certificated Location is sandwiched between the Wolds and the Lincolnshire coast. It’s a charming ¾-acre site with five grass pitches, all of which have electric hook-up for Caravan and Motorhome Club members. Facilities include a toilet and shower room, a second toilet and a field where dogs can be walked. One bonus here is that fresh vegetables and eggs are for sale (when available) – a charming touch. Keep an eye out for the visiting barn owl, too, which sometimes hunts in the field behind the site. There’s also Wi-fi, although the owners don’t guarantee it will reach all pitches. Pitch+2+hook-up £15 Woodthorpe Touring Park near Alford is excellent. It’s not the cheapest, but the facilities are well presented (for example, first-rate chemical-disposal point). Access points on fully serviced pitches don’t always suit inlets/outlets on UK vans, but that’s my only criticism. This is a beautiful park – good bar, good beer and tasty food. John M (Forum) Site essentials Well-established Woodthorpe Leisure Park is a fine place to pitch up. The touring area is flat, and the generous pitches have 10A hook-up and access to a modern toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. What’s great about this park, though, is the abundance of on-site activities; you certainly won’t be bored. As well as the on-site shop, there is a bar/restaurant, golf club and driving range, fishing lake and several children’s play areas. A short walk away there’s also a garden centre (with restaurant), RAF Strubby airfield and even an aquatic centre. The site’s location makes it ideal for anyone wanting to visit the Wolds or the Lincolnshire coast, with Mablethorpe just a 10-minute drive away.
