Coachman adds an Xtra name

Brands relabelled to distinguish new models

-

Coachman has rebranded many of its 8ft-wide caravans for 2022, introducing an eight-footer to its VIP range, two new Lasers and a Lusso single-axle model.

For the new season, the ‘Xcel’ moniker will only be given to the three 8ft-wide models in the Laser Xcel range, which come with special Laser Xcel spec, including E&P self-levelling and a 100W roof-mounted solar panel.

All other eight-footers, including the two new models in the regular Laser range, will now be called ‘Xtra’. The Hull company said it was making the change to avoid confusion.

The two new Lasers are the single-axle 545 Xtra, a four-berth with rear island bed, central washroom and L-shaped lounge, and the 620 Xtra, a twin-axle four-berth with a second side dinette and a huge end washroom.

The new 8ft-wide model in the VIP range is the 540 Xtra, a single-axle four-berth with rear corner bed with dressing table, corner washroom and L-shaped front lounge.

To reflect the rebranding in the Acadia range, the 830, 860 and 875 Xcel have become, respectively, the 630, 660 and 675 Xtra.

There is also a single-axle Lusso, known as the Lusso I to distinguish it from the twin-axle Lusso II. With an internal length of 5.80m, the new model is 46cm shorter than the twin-axle; the length seems to have been taken from the lounge, which in both is now L-shaped with a folding table. Otherwise the layout is the same, with an island bed and end washroom.

Notable additions to the spec include Truma Comfort air conditioning and a much larger kitchen extension in the Lussos, an extractor fan and deeper top-mounted handbasin in the Laser and Laser Excel ranges, and overhead locker doors in the VIP line-up that align with the ceiling much more smoothly when open.
