Only sold for three years, so already rare, the S70 was the bridge between Volvo’s blocky past and curvy future. Still built with care and solidity, much-improved ride, handling and interiors compared with the outgoing 850 were bonuses. T5 and R are the ultimate picks but don’t dismiss the 2.4. You can grab good ones for under a grand, but not for much longer.
