I’m a big fan of my Karmann Ghia – but I’ve recently put it up for sale. I’ve long lusted after owning a Porsche 911 of my own and the simple fact is that I need the money currently ‘tied up’ in the Ghia to have any chance of achieving that ambition. With the way air-cooled Porsche values have risen over the past five years – and look to have every chance of continuing to do so – the truth is that if I don’t take the plunge soon, I may miss my chance forever. We’ve had a great run together and I’ll always be glad that the Ghia was mine for even a short few years… but it is the time to part.
