GETTING IN THE GROOVE
QMy Fiat 126’s window winders are held on by horseshoeshaped wire clips. I can’t see them or reach them. Do you have any tips to remove them? Mark Mincher, Sandbach
AMake a pusher out of a piece of flat steel with the end bent to form a comfortable handle. Push the tool down behind the winder arm so it slots between the boss and the escutcheon, then push the clip out of its locating groove. Sometimes the clip falls obediently out, but sometimes it takes a bit of wriggling.
On reassembly, snap the clip fully into the slot in the handle, put the escutcheon in place then push the winder handle firmly on to engage the clip with the groove in the spindle.
