BREATHING EASIER?

QI want to fit a freeflowing air filter to my Ford Fiesta 1.1 to increase performance. Do you recommend this? Andy Foster, Carlisle

AA ‘sports’ air filter is easy to fit, cheap and will produce a rorty noise when snapping the throttle open. If you’re modifying the engine, the extra airflow can be of real benefit. On a bogstandard engine, though, the performance gains will be rather limited. Re-jetting your carburettor to suit might be a sensible next step.
