Classic Lodges

The classic-friendly hotel chain you can afford to stay at

-

It’s not uncommon to feel a sense of dread when you pull into a hotel car park. Row upon row of modern hulks with owners who don’t take particularly good care when opening their doors. Unlike us, they see a classic as merely an old car and, out on the road, a significant impedance to their frenzied progress.

It’s therefore heart-warming to know a classic-friendly hotel chain exists – especially one that offers sumptuous rooms and fine dining, as well as space for your classic. Each member of the Practical Classics team has experienced the hospitality of Classic Lodges and the positive experience was the same in each instance.

The hotels are dotted all around the UK with every one offering a unique character – from manor houses set in stunning grounds to village lodges. Every one of the hotels we have stayed at showed enthusiasm for our classic cars and were keen to ensure we enjoyed our visit, offering us advice on interesting local road trip routes and attractions.

Our last visit was in the midst of winter and having parked up in the frosty landscape of North Yorkshire, we enjoyed the warmth of an open fire and some fine ales with Director of Marketing Richard Smith. ‘From West Sussex to Whitby, Penrith to Peterborough, we want classic car owners to enjoy their hotel experience as much as they enjoy the drive there.’ It’s also handy that Richard himself drives a classic – an MGB GT. ‘I live and breathe classic cars so I know what enthusiasts want from a hotel.’ Having experienced his ethos first hand, we can’t help but agree.
