Join in on Drive-it Day 2018

Find out what’s happening on Sunday April 22

-

Drive-it Day gets bigger and better every year, with huge numbers of events taking place in every corner of the UK. Most classic car clubs are doing something, even if it’s just tagging along with a bigger event organised by another club, or going to a venue that’s opening its doors to all.

If you’re not already booked into a drive out with your club, think about joining in the fun at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon (britishmotormuseum. co.uk). Anybody turning up in a car more than 20 years old will get discounted entry to the museum.

This year we’ll be at the Classic Motor Hub near Cirencester (classicmotorhub.com) which is offering free entry – but you do have to register in advance.

One fixture that’ll be packed is the Sunday Scramble at Bicester Heritage, Oxfordshire (bicesterheritage. co.uk). You need to buy a ticket in advance but you’ll struggle to find a more varied selection of classics in one place.

Brooklands Museum (brooklandsmuseum. com) will be opening its gates to pre-1983 cars. Normal entry prices apply – £13.50 adults, (concessions £11.50.

Three other museums to head for are the Museum of Power in Essex (museumofpower.org. uk), the Lakeland Motor Museum in the Lake District (lakeland motormuseum.co.uk) and the Wiltshire-based Atwell-wilson Museum (atwellwilson.org.uk). The latter offers reduced entry to groups of 20 or more. If none of these tickle your fancy, how about the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire (thenma. org.uk) or the gathering at Cowley to celebrate 50 years of British Leyland (tinyurl. com/y7ewf4fx)?
