All at sea with an MG
My friend Peter asked me to help him find an MGB GT and eventually found a white car that had been rebuilt by Robin Hamilton, a one-time Aston Martin driver. Peter flew to Manchester from his home in Benidorm to pick it. On the return trip, halfway across the Bay of Biscay, Peter awoke to silence and no lights – the ferry had broken down! The crew fixed the engine and they continued to Santander. Peter drove the rest of the way home and the car is now in the car park beneath his apartment. So Peter bought a 45-year-old car, drove it 1400-odd miles and the only breakdown was the ruddy ship!
