WHAT’S IT LIKE TO DRIVE

Practical Classics (UK) - - THE BIG RESTORATION -

From rusty worn-out farmhand to stunning usable classic, this car’s transformation has been exceptional. The colour scheme is exactly to my taste, red with contrasting black decals, spoilers and BBS replica alloy centres – I’d never tire of looking at it.

The engine fires with a gruffer than standard sound – no bad thing – thanks to the induction system’s air filter, and throttle blips elicit a satisfyingly sporting exhaust note.

On the move it’s a really eager performer, but it’s actually the handling that’s the star of the show here; feedback through the Irmscher sports steering wheel is cracking, and transmits the nuances of the road surface perfectly to your fingertips. As we say in Scotland, it’s a right wee stoater.
