LOST IN TRANSLATION?

Practical Classics (UK) - - YOUR SHOUT - Phil Mason, France

Having lived in France for 23 years I was really interested in James Walshe’s article on buying a used car here (PC, Oct 2018). I’ve just checked online and prices of R25 diesels tend to go from about €1000 to €2000. I did find one with 440,000 kms on the clock at € 800!

If anyone can explain to me why used car prices in France are so inflated, I’d be interested to know.

As a rule of thumb, I say to take the UK price in pounds, double it, and that will be the asking price in France.

Which probably explains why we are seeing more and more RHD classics registered here.

James Walshe with his Bangernomics Renault.
