Practical Classics (UK) - - YOUR SHOUT - Daniel Taylor, Southport

I have been a regular reader of Practical Classics for a number of years now and would like to first say that the team do a great job. My brothers Ben and Andrew are both classic owners. Ben owns a 1997 E36 BMW 316i and Andrew runs a 2002 Ford Focus ST170. Both cars are clean, low mileage examples with very light modifications.

My daily driver is a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T but I don’t have the funds to make it show-worthy – I have a young family.

Ben and Andrew showed their cars for the first time Motorfest, Ormskirk, Lancs. I tagged along with a friend.

The 316i and ST170 looked great next to each other, with a lot of hard work and elbow grease having gone into getting them ready. They really were testament to the lads, who looked so proud stood next to them.

All was going so well until it began to rain – hard. I ran across the park to Argos to try to obtain some shelter for us. I returned triumphantly, £65 lighter, with a large pop-up gazebo.

At first this was a masterstroke, but then the wind came – blowing the rain into the gazebo.

It was a shame our first taste of showing cars was a washout, but it was still a positive experience. Less rain next time!

The Taylor boys enjoying Motorfest.
